This 1946 Willys-Overland CJ-2A underwent a complete, No-Expense spared refurbishment that was completed in 2016 and involved the installation of a 4.3-liter V6 as well as a repaint in green and a refresh of the interior. The engine is backed by a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case, and components include a Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a dual exhaust system with stainless-steel headers and MagnaFlow mufflers. The truck rides on 15" Mickey Thompson wheels and is further equipped with a folding windshield, a single side mirror, a drop-down tailgate, side steps, twin front seats, a rear bench, and AutoMeter instrumentation. This CJ-2A is now located on display in our showroom in Salem, OH. The vehicle comes with with service records, spare parts, refurbishment photos, and a clean title.
The CJ-2A—CJ being short for “Civilian Jeep”—was the first full-production CJ model created for non-military use, and it debuted in June 1945 with production following in July. This example was fitted with replacement floor pans and sheet metal before it was refinished in green, and other refurbishment work involved replacing the frame. Details include a folding windshield, swing-out front glass, a single side mirror, a drop-down tailgate, side steps, and black bumpers.
Mickey Thompson eight-hole 15" wheels are mounted with 31×10.50" Dunlop radial Mud Rover tires. The truck is equipped with Warn manually locking front hubs, and stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners.
The frames for the individual front seats and rear bench were refinished and the cushions were trimmed in tan. Fabricated shift handles have been installed.
AutoMeter instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 1k miles.
The 4.3-liter V-6 was installed during the refurbishment and is fitted with an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, and MSD ignition components. A Novak adapter kit, a remote oil filter, and a high-volume oil pump and water pump were also utilized.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case, both of which were overhauled during the refurbishment work, along with the axles. The clutch was also replaced, and the exhaust system is fitted with stainless-steel headers and MagnaFlow mufflers.
Photos showing the truck before and during the refurbishment work are included in the gallery of photos.
Refurbishment records are also included in the sale.
