This 1948 Ford F-1 pickup spent its life as a rust free highly original survivor vehicle prior to its acquisition and start of the body-off restoration that was complete in 2015. This is an all original steel truck that is Finished with Omni basecoat clearcoat paint in Sterling Grey (2012 Ford F-150 color) over grey vinyl upholstery interior. The truck is powered by the correct rebuilt 239ci flathead V8 paired with three-speed manual transmission. Work during restoration included disassembling the entire vehicle, resealing the engine, rebuilding the transmission, overhauling the bed and suspension, performing metal work for a laser straight finish, replacing numerous parts to bring it to a show truck that is turn key ready to cruise. This vehicle has been recently serviced and is ready to drive long distance with no excuse. This Ford pickup is being offered with its record book filled with receipts from maintenance as well as restoration and photos. This truck also has a clean actual mileage title.
During restoration of this all steel truck the bed was removed from the frame, the cab was refinished as well as fenders and running boards. Bodywork included sanding the entire vehicle down, smoothing every panel to a straight finish, priming the vehicle and repainting to a beautiful mirror finish. The bed was completed with a custom oak wood bed floor with stainless-steel runners. Additional features include dual exhausts, removable side stakes, electric windshield wipers, chrome side mirrors, grille, bumpers and accessories.
Matching grey painted steel wheels feature chrome trim rings and hubcaps and are mounted with Firestone whitewall tires. The springs and shocks have been replaced along with the brake master cylinder, brake lines, wheel cylinders, and bushings.
The cabin houses a bench seat that has been reupholstered in gray and red vinyl, black rubber-lined floors and a replacement headliner. Equipment includes a column mount shifter, a glovebox, and opening front 3/4 vent windows.
A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a body-color metal dash that host the original gauge cluster with 100-mph speedometer and a suite of auxiliary gauges. The odometer shows 45,710 miles and is stated as actual mileage on the title.
The 239ci flathead V8 was disassembled, resealed and repainted during the restoration.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt at the time of restoration. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery.
