1981 DeLorean DMC-12

This 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 features brushed stainless-steel bodywork over gray leather upholstery and is powered by a 2.85-liter V6 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes gullwing doors, staggered-diameter alloy wheels, a louvered rear hatch cover, disk brakes, a factory cassette stereo, and air conditioning. This DeLorean shows 41k miles and is offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean Ohio title in the Dealership’s name.

Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the DMC-12 features brushed stainless-steel body panels mounted on a composite underbody and a steel chassis derived from the Lotus Esprit. Additional features include gullwing doors, rear window louvers, black side stripes and moldings, dual exhaust outlets, and quad headlights.

Turbine-style 14? and 15? alloy wheels are wrapped in 195/60 Toyo Extensa A/S tires up front and 235/60 BFGoodrich Radials T/A rubber out back. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The brake system is said to have been serviced in 2017 with rebuilt calipers as well as replacement of the pads and rotors. The brake master cylinder was replaced in 2020.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in gray leather paired with a matching dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and DMC-branded floor mats. Work performed in 2022 by Lightning Automotive in Elk River, Minnesota, included servicing the air-conditioning system, replacing the window switches and door shocks, and repairing the headliner.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, battery voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 41k miles, approximately 20 of which have been added during current ownership.

The rear-mounted 2.85L Peugeot-Renault-Volvo V6 was factory rated at 130 horsepower and 153 lb-ft of torque and features Bosch Jetronic fuel injection. The coolant hoses were replaced in 2017 according to the seller.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. Corrosion is visible on underside components, and additional photos of the underbody are provided in the gallery below.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.
