1997 Mercury Cougar XR7

This 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7 has been registered in New Jersey from new, and it now shows only 296 miles on the odometer. Powered by a 4.6-liter SOHC V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in Vibrant White over Light Prairie Tan upholstery. Additional equipment includes a power antenna, 15" cast aluminum wheels, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo as well as power windows, locks, and mirrors. This final-year MN12 Cougar was acquired by the selling dealer and is currently on display in our showroom. It is a magnificent vehicle in showroom condition. 

The car is finished in Vibrant White (WT) with bright trim, a power-retractable antenna, and body-color power-adjustable mirrors. Photos show pitting on the front trim.

Cast aluminum 15" wheels are wrapped in 215/70 Firestone FR680 tires (Original to the vehicle date code 227). The car is equipped with four-wheel independent suspension, low-speed traction control, and anti-lock disc brakes at all four corners.

The front bucket seats and the rear bench seat are upholstered in Light Prairie Tan cloth, and they are joined by color-coordinated door panels along with a contrasting dashboard. Appointments include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, and power windows and door locks as well as carpeted floor mats, rear-seat heat ducts, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo.

The leather-wrapped airbag steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 296 miles.

The 4.6-liter SOHC V8 was factory rated at 205 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
